Hosted by
Dr Gayathri Vasudevan, Chief Impact Officer and Trustee, Sambhav Foundation

The global shift towards sustainability has created a surge in demand for green skills.1 This masterclass aims to address the critical need for skilled workforce in the green economy, focusing on empowering underprivileged youth
Relevance: The global green economy is burgeoning, with the renewable energy market projected to reach $40 billion by 2025.2 However, a significant green skills gap hinders this growth. According to a report by the World Economic Forum, the green economy could create 24 million jobs globally by 2030.3 By equipping individuals with green skills, we can bridge this gap, stimulate economic growth, and foster sustainable livelihoods. Green skilling is paramount for achieving ESG goals, as it drives innovation, creates jobs, and contributes to a healthier planet.

Key Themes:

  • The Business Case for Green Skilling: Understanding the economic benefits (potential to GDP) and unemployment associated with green skills.
  • Bridging the Green Skills Gap: Identifying challenges and opportunities in developing a green skilled workforce.
  • Empowering Underprivileged Youth: The role of green skilling in creating inclusive and sustainable employment opportunities.
  • Integrating Green Skills into ESG Strategy: Aligning green skilling initiatives with broader ESG objectives.
  • Measuring and Evaluating Green Skill Impact: Developing metrics to assess the effectiveness of green skilling programs
