Classification of the Categories



The Awards’ applications/nominations assessment is based on projects/programs executed in the financial year 2023-24 and 2024-25. The project/program should have been implemented in one or both of these years. The "Doing Good for Bharat" Awards encompass a wide range of categories, acknowledging efforts across various sectors:

The applicant, whether an organisation or an individual, should apply or nominate in the appropriate subcategory based on the criteria and descriptions provided below:


1. Applying as an Organisation

A. Doing Good Through Business; Environmental Stewardship through CSR/ Business Intervention/ESG and Sustainability:

Who can Apply:

Businesses and Corporates


Eligibility Criteria:

  • The applicant must be a company registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), Government of India, or operating under the guidelines issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
  • The company must have recorded a minimum annual revenue of INR 500 crore or more in the financial year 2024–25, in accordance with the recognised Indian Accounting Standards.
  • The nominated project, programme, initiative, or a group of activities must have had a funding outlay of INR 40 lakh or more in either:
    • FY 2023–24, or
    • FY 2024–25, through core business operations, CSR expenditure, or ESG initiatives.
  • The initiative(s) must demonstrate impact beyond the company’s operational boundaries (such as plants, offices, business units). This may include initiatives related to supply chain sustainability, community outreach, or raw material sourcing practices.
  • It is mandatory to submit supporting documents for eligibility verification. These include:
    • Certificate of incorporation
    • Audited financial statements of the last 2 years
    • Project details with financial outlay
    • Any additional documentation to support during the assessment process

B. Doing Good Through Business: Social Responsibility:

Who can Apply:

Businesses and corporations eligible for CSR spending as per the Section 135 of the Companies Act 2013.


Eligibility Criteria:

  • The applicant must be a company registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), Government of India, or operating under the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
  • The company must have recorded a minimum annual revenue of INR 500 crore in Financial Year 2024–25, as per the recognised Indian Accounting Standards.
  • The nominated project, programme, or group of initiatives must have a minimum funding outlay of INR 40 lakh in either:
    • FY 2023–24, or
    • FY 2024–25, specifically through CSR expenditure.
  • It is mandatory to submit supporting documents for verification of eligibility. These include:
    • Certificate of incorporation or equivalent registration proof
    • Audited financial statements of the last 2 years
    • Project financial summary or utilisation report
    • Any additional documents to support during the evaluation process

C. Doing Good through Innovation (Start-up/Social Enterprise):

Who can Apply:

  • An entity registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), Government of India, under the Companies Act (excluding Section 25/Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013), or
  • A registered for-profit organisation, including Partnership Firms or Proprietorships

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The organisation must be a registered for-profit entity operating in India
  • Must have been in legal operation for a minimum of 2 years as of 1st July 2025
  • Must have a minimum full-time team size of six (6) members
  • Should have reported a minimum revenue of INR 25 lakhs in FY 2024–25
  • Must offer fully developed solutions addressing specific social or environmental challenges in India, with a demonstrated use case or on-ground implementation.
  • The solution should show evidence of impact, adoption, and scalability potential.
  • Submission of supporting documents for eligibility verification is mandatory, including:
    • Registration certificate
    • Audited financial statements of the last 2 years
    • Team structure (organogram with names & designations of all key team members)
    • Case study or documentation of implemented solution

D. Doing Good through Grassroots Actions (Non-Profit Organisations, NPOs):

Who can Apply:

A registered non-profit organisation (Section 8/25, Society or Trust) a non-profit implementing organisation and Corporate Foundations (Irrespective of funding source)

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Entities registered in India as a:
    • Section 8 Company under the Companies Act, 2013
    • CSR Foundations
    • Public Charitable Trust
    • Society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 or relevant state legislation
  • Eligibility Requirements:
    • The organisation must have completed at least five (5) years since the date of registration, as of 1st July 2025
    • Must have implemented projects or initiatives with a minimum funding outlay of INR 40 lakh in either FY 2023–24 or FY 2024–25
    • Projects should demonstrate tangible social or environmental impact, preferably with a focus on sustainability and replicability
  • Submission of supporting documents is mandatory for verification and may include:
    • Registration certificate and relevant legal documents
    • Audited financial statements of the last 2 years
    • Project details with funding and impact evidence (reports, case studies, etc.)

E. Philanthropy for Impact (People/Planet):

Who can Apply:

International or national philanthropic organisations (including foundations, trusts, or endowments) that are actively engaged in funding or supporting social impact initiatives in India.


Eligibility Criteria:

  • The organisation must have contributed or invested a cumulative amount of at least INR 5 crore in Indian social impact initiatives across FY 2023–24 and FY 2024–25.
  • Contributions can be in the form of grants, donations, or programmatic investments directed towards non-profit, development, or SDG aligned interventions in India.
  • Applicants must submit supporting documentation to validate investment figures and the nature of supported initiatives. This may include grant agreements, audited financial statements, impact reports, and utilisation certificates.
  • Individual philanthropists and family offices that have supported multiple organisations or projects across sectors and regions within the specified timeframe are also eligible to apply, provided their cumulative contributions meet the INR 5 crore threshold and align with the social impact and SDG criteria outlined above.

Any government or administrative representative


Eligibility Criteria:

  • Currently serving or previously served civil servants (IAS or equivalent officers) at the district, state, or national level.
  • Highlighting impactful and verifiable initiatives or programs led by the nominee that have made a meaningful contribution in the fields of Healthcare, Education, Environment, or Tech for Good, at the selected sub-category level—District, State, or National.
  • The initiatives must have been implemented at the district, state, or national scale, demonstrating innovation, replicability, and tangible impact.
