Classification of the Categories



The Awards’ applications/nominations assessment is based on projects/programs executed in the financial year 2022-23 and 2023-24. The project/program should have been implemented in one or both of these years. The "Doing Good for Bharat" Awards encompass a wide range of categories, acknowledging efforts across various sectors:

The applicant, whether an organisation or an individual, should apply or nominate in the appropriate subcategory based on the criteria and descriptions provided below:


1. Applying as an Organisation

A. Doing Good Through Business; Environmental Stewardship through CSR/ Business Intervention/ESG and Sustainability:

Who can Apply:

Businesses and Corporates


Eligibility Criteria:

A company registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs or operating under the Reserve Bank of India guidance.
The company must have an annual revenue of INR 500 Cr. or more in the FY 2023-2024
Projects/programs/initiatives or group of programs and activities must have a funding outlay of INR 40 lakh or more in FY 2022-23 or FY 2023-24 through business or CSR outlay.
Having impactful initiatives outside the company's fences (plants/sites/offices/BU). Initiatives on supply chain
aspects and raw material sustainability can be covered in this category.
Sharing the supporting documents for verification of the eligibility criteria is mandatory.

B. Doing Good Through Business; Social Responsibility:

Who can Apply:

Businesses and corporations eligible for CSR spending as per the Section 135 of the Companies Act 2013.


Eligibility Criteria:

A company registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs or operating under the Reserve Bank of India guidance
The company must have an annual revenue of INR 500 crore or more in FY 23-24
Projects/programmes/initiatives or groups of programmes and activities must have a funding outlay of INR 40 lakh or more in FY 2022-23 or 2023-24 through CSR outlay

C. Doing Good through Innovation (Start-up/Social Enterprise):

Who can Apply:

An entity registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt of India under the Companies Act (excluding Section 25/Section 8 of the Companies Act) or
A for-profit organisation (Partnership/proprietorship firm)


Eligibility Criteria:

Must be registered as a for-profit entity.
Must have been operating as a legal entity for at least two years (as of 1st July 2024)
Minimum team size (full-time) of six members
Revenue of at least INR 25 lakhs in the last FY 2023-2024.
Must have fully developed solutions that cater to social/environmental problems in India and help in solving the problem or building pathways for the solutions. There must be an established use case/on-ground programme where the solutions must have been implemented.

Who can Apply:

Independent Academic Institutes or Universities

Eligibility Criteria:

Independent Academic Institutes or Universities with at least 5 years of operations as on 1st July 2024 Must have centres of excellence, research wings, or courses related to the areas in which you are applying.
Must have at least one team member (full time) with a doctorate in the relevant field.

E. Doing Good through Grassroots Actions:

Who can Apply:

A registered non-profit organisation (Section 8/25, society or Trust) a non-profit implementing organisation, Corporate Foundations (Irrespective of funding source)


Eligibility Criteria:

Entities registered as non-profit organisation, Section 8 or Trust in India
Minimum five years of completion since the date of registration as of 1st July 2024.
Projects must have a minimum funding outlay of INR 40 lakh or more in either FY 2022-23 or FY 2023-24

Who can Apply:

International and national philanthropic organisations that primarily function as funding entities and have a history of working through non-profit organisations to achieve on-ground impact.


Eligibility Criteria:

International or national philanthropic organisations working extensively in India.
Must have invested or donated at least INR 5 Cr. in Indian social impact initiatives in FY 2023-23 and FY2023-24 (cumulative INR 5 Cr, at least).

Who can Apply:

Any government or administrative representative


Eligibility Criteria:

Showcasing impactful projects at the district/state/national level by an IAS or officer at a similar level
Nominees must be currently serving or have served as district, state, or central-level civil servants or officers at a similar level.
Nominees should have demonstrated verifiable initiatives or programs that have contributed significantly to the selected subcategory.
